Pelini names captains

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini has selected captains for the football team's season opener against Western Michigan. Seniors Joe Ganz and Matt Slauson will be the captains for the offense, while senior Barry Turner will represent the defense. Dan Titchener will represent the specialists for Saturday's game. Pelini says he likes the team's senior leadership and feels good about his choices. He says he's impressed with his team's focus and likes what he's seeing, but there are still some mistakes that need correcting. Senior offensive lineman Lydon Murtha sat out of Wednesday's practice with an injury. Pelini says his status is probable for Saturday's game.
