PHILLIPSBURG, KANS. (October 29, 2009) – Kansas’ Biggest Rodeo in Phillipsburg has won the award for Large Rodeo of the Year in the Prairie Circuit, pro rodeo’s regional designation of the 39 rodeos in Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. To qualify for the large rodeo division, a rodeo must have a prize purse of $20,000 or more.
Three other Kansas rodeos won their categories, giving Kansas a clean sweep of the awards. The Abbyville, Kansas rodeo won Small Rodeo of the Year (prize money up to $9,999), the Bennington, Kansas rodeo won Medium Rodeo of the Year (prize money from $10,000 to $19,999) and the Coffeyville, Kansas rodeo won Most Improved Rodeo of the Year.
Awards were presented at the 2009 Dodge Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo, hosted by the American Royal and held in Kansas City October 22-24.
Each rodeo will receive a custom made trophy belt buckle in a display case, made by Montana Silversmith and engraved with the committee’s name.
Kansas' Biggest Rodeo will host its 81st annual event August 5-6-7, 2010.
