UNK has 9 players named to all district team
The UNK football team has placed six players on the 2009 Daktronics All-Super Region # 3 team. The team is voted upon by the region's sports information directors. Super Region # 3 includes the RMAC, NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) and GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). Earning 1st-team honors are senior center Jack Hiett (Arvada, Colo.), senior safety Jake Mandelko (Lexington) and sophomore running back Rustin Dring (Kearney H.S.). They'll each advance to the national ballot where they could be voted a Daktronics All-American. Last season, Mandelko was a 1st-team pick for this squad while Hiett made the 2nd-team. UNK players on the 2nd-team this year include senior corner Ozzie Smith (Bellevue), junior receiver Kyle Kaiser (Broomfield, Colo.) and junior defensive tackle Josh Rohde (Eddyville). UNK's six picks were the second most in the region, following Minnesota State's nine.
