Gothenburg moved into the second round of the Class C1 state playoffs with a 24-0 win over Minden on Thursday night. Gothenburg scored the only touchdown in first half as Tanner Mroczek returned a punt 36 yards for a score, the 2pt conversion was no good and the Swedes led 6-0 with 11:44 left in the 2nd quarter. In the third quarter facing 2 and 10 from its own five Mroczek hurdled two Whippet tacklers and went 95 yards up the sideline to give the Swedes a 12-0 lead. Gothenburg then would tack on a 24 yard td pass to Patrick Reeves and Mroczek would score again from 68 yards out in the 4th quarter. On the night, Mroczek had 8 carries for 170 yards. Gothenburg is now 8-1 on the year and will play at undefeated Broken Bow on Wednesday as the Swedes beat Mitchell 54-14. The Indians beat the Swedes earlier this year 14-13.

For the first time since 2003 the Eustis Farnam Knights are in the second round of the D1 playoffs as they upset Silver Lake on Thursday 36-14. Eustis Farnam jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Quarterback Drew Wetovick had his best game of the season as he threw 4 td passes and had a rushing td as well. Eustis Farnam is now 7-2, while Silver Lake's season ends at 7-2.

In Arapahoe, the Warriors lost to Amherst 32-20. It was the second meeting between these two teams in the last week. Amherst led 20-6 after one quarter and were then able to hold off Arapahoe down the stretch. Gavin Kenney led the Broncos with 2 rushing tds and 188 yards on the ground. He also threw a 67 yard td pass.
