Two lifelong friends from Eustis have started down the path of coaching Division One men's basketball. Zach Janus and Logan Bean 2003 graduates from Eustis Farnam high school are finding out what it is like to be assistant coaches in major college basketball. After serving as managers with the Nebraska basketball program while students in Lincoln, the two are now in different parts of the country. Janus recently wrapped up his first year on the staff at Tennessee Martin which qualified for the NIT while Bean spent the past year as a graduate assistant at Marquette who advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament before losing to Missouri last weekend. Janus says it helps a lot having your best friend in the same profession as he and Bean talk with one another each night. Bean says the idea of working together again gets brought up a lot. The two kid each other that if one ever becomes a head coach he will hire the other to be his assistant.
