Nelson says young delegates' enthusiasm contagious

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Nebraska U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson says the excitement is contagious from young members of Nebraska's delegation to the Democratic National Convention. Nelson, a Democrat, said Wednesday from Denver that first-time delegates and longtime party leaders are united and optimistic. Nelson says the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama, is not only a great orator, he has an ability to connect with people. Nelson expects Obama to reach out to independents and Republicans in his speech to the delegates Thursday night.
