911 service restored to Elm Creek residents

ELM CREEK, Neb. (AP) _ Calls from Elm Creek homes to 911 are now going through.

The Buffalo County sheriff's office reported earlier today that some Elm Creek residents were unable to reach emergency dispatchers on their landline telephones because of an equipment problem. All households with the 856 prefix in the telephone number were affected.

Their calls were directed to the Elm Creek Fire Hall as repair crews worked on the problem. The sheriff's office alerted the public to the problem about 1 p.m., and said it was fixed about three hours later.
