OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ If Democrat Jim Esch gets the nod in the 2nd Congressional District primary Tuesday, he'll get another shot at Lee Terry, the five-term GOP incumbent who eked out a narrow victory over him in 2006. But to do that, Esch will have to beat newcomer Richard Carter. Terry was expected to again best Steven Laird, whom he beat in the 1998 and 2006 primaries. The state's other congressional incumbents _ Republicans Jeff Fortenberry in the 1st District and Adrian Smith in the 3rd _ face little or no competition until the general election in November. Fortenberry and his Democratic challenger Max Yashirin are running unopposed. Smith faces Jeremiah Ellison on the Republican ticket, while Democrats Paul Spatz and Jay Stoddard are vying. ___ On the Net: Nebraska Democrats: www.nebraskademocrats.org Nebraska Republicans: www.negop.org
