80 dogs rescued from Neb. breeding operation

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) _ Law enforcement and animal advocates in west-central Nebraska raided a residence near North Platte and confiscated about 80 dogs. The Lincoln County sheriff's deputies went to the breeding and boarding operation Wednesday with volunteers and staffers from the North Platte and other animal shelters. Neighbors said they had complained to U.S. Agriculture Department inspectors about poor living conditions for the dogs and about dogs running loose. Dogs that pass health and behavioral checks will be put up for adoption. A phone number for the breeder was out of service Thursday. A message left at Paws-itive Partners animal shelter in North Platte was not immediately returned.
