Former deputies found guilty of buying alcohol for minors
KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) -- Two former Furnas County sheriff's deputies have been found guilty of buying alcohol for two women who were underage.Patrick Stewart, 24, of Hastings and Dallas Helms, 24, of Arapahoe each face up to one year in jail and a fine for their convictions on one count of procuring alcohol to a minor. They were acquitted of a second count.
Authorities have said the off-duty officers bought alcohol for a 19-year-old Atlanta woman and a 20-year-old Oxford woman during a hockey game at the FirsTier Event Center on Jan. 23, 2007. Two State Patrol troopers were at the game and reported the deputies.
