Cereal manufacturer moves Neb. operations to Ill.

FREMONT, Neb. (AP) _ An international food manufacturer announced that it's moving operations at its Fremont plant to a new site in Illinois. Kerry Ingredients spokesman Jim Egan says the plant will begin laying off its roughly 70 employees next month. Operations there will cease in the fall and be transferred to a new facility in Gridley, Illinois. Egan says workers were told of the closure two weeks ago. Kerry Ingredients is owned by the Kerry Group. The Tralee, Ireland-based company supplies food ingredients and flavorings to customers in more than 140 countries. The Fremont plant produced ingredients for cereals and snackbars, including granola clusters, crisps and flakes.
