
(Lincoln, NE)- Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol issued 256 citations and warnings for Seat Belt violations and 45 Child Restraint citations and warnings during the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” campaign. The special enforcement designed to drive home the message “seat belts save lives” encompassed the heavily traveled Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.
One fatality was reported over the holiday time period. 42-year-old Karen Reiners, of McCook, Nebraska, was killed in a single vehicle crash involving a grain truck. Reiners, was the driver of the truck. The crash occurred on a county road northeast of Holbrook, Nebraska, Saturday, November 28, 2009 and was investigated by the Furnas County Sheriff’s Office.
Troopers and dispatchers worked overtime hours during the “Click It or Ticket” special enforcement thanks in part to a more than $29,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
