Palmyra student charged with having BB
gun in school

PALMYRA, Neb. (AP) _ An eighth-grader accused of pointing a BB gun at a teacher was charged as an adult with making terroristic threats. The Palmyra Junior-Senior High School student was arraigned Friday in Otoe County Court. District superintendent Clyde Childers said the student pulled a BB gun from his backpack and pointed it at a teacher during gym class on Thursday morning. Then, he fled. Officials locked down the school for more than four hours and canceled after-school activities while they searched for the student. Authorities said he was found walking 2 1/2 miles east of Palmyra about 5 p.m. The 14-year-old student, whose name wasn't released, faces expulsion.
