LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Republican Senate candidate Pat Flynn says he's running on a platform of less government intrusion in areas such as ethanol subsidies, health care and education. Flynn is a Schuyler investment adviser taking on former Nebraska Governor Mike Johanns in the May 13th primary. Flynn says it takes three gallons of water and three-quarters a gallon of oil to make one gallon of ethanol. He says it's shortsighted to subsidize production. Flynn says he would have voted against the economic stimulus package that put $600 into the pockets of many Americans. A better idea, Flynn says, would be to lower the corporate tax to keep companies in the United States. Flynn has pledged not to seek federal earmarks, and says the federal government needs to be cut 10 percent.
