Authorities say tornado hit house near Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Neb. (AP) _ Authorities say a tornado has hit a house in Morrill County. Dispatchers in the county 911 center say the house is located at the junction of U.S. Highway 385 and state Highway 92, between Bridgeport and Dalton. There was no information Wednesday night on whether anyone was hurt or the extent of the storm's damage. There were several reports of tornadoes near Bridgeport as a spring storm brought hail and strong winds to the Panhandle. The National Weather Service office in Cheyenne, Wyo., says local authorities spotted a tornado six miles south of town about 6 p.m. Wednesday. There were reports of golf ball- to baseball-sized hail, smashed windows and downed power lines in Bridgeport, but the weather service could not yet confirm whether damage was from a tornado.
