
The former Lexington teacher sentenced recently in federal court for fleeing to Mexico with a 13 year old boy now faces state charges. 26 year old Kelsey Peterson was in Dawson county court Wednesday afternoon to face five state charges arising from her involvement with the boy, referred to in court by his initials, F.R. Dawson county attorney Liz Waterman has charged Peterson with kidnapping, two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child, felony child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Judge Carlton Clark set a preliminary hearing for Peterson for October 20th . The former Lexington teacher pleaded guilty in July to federal charges of traveling with a person younger than 18 to have sex. She was sentenced to six years in federal prison. Judge Clark set Peterson's bond at $500,000 cash. Peterson's Attorney James Martin Davis of Omaha was said to be out of the country and was not present for Wednesday's proceedings.
