Red Cross in Omaha giving away 500 fans

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ The Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross in Omaha will be giving away 500 fans to help those in need beat the summer heat. The chapter has already begun distributing the fans, which were bought with money from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. Red Cross officials says applicants must meet low income requirements and show proof that they live in Douglas or Sarpy county. Those wanting to help may make monetary contributions or donate unused fans at the Red Cross headquarters in south-central Omaha.
