Public screenings of the movie "Independence" will be held in central Nebraska this week. Margaret Norwood, the producer and leading role in the movie, hopes that people "can come out and celebrate the movie that they helped make". She says that many people were "instrumental in making the film".
Norwood says she is proud and grateful for the assistance of both communities in it's filming so the screenings will be held in those communities. On Thursday evening it will be screened in the French Memorial Chapel on the Hastings College campus at 7:30p and on Saturday evening at 7:00p in the Cozad Elk's Club. Norwood plans to be at both screenings.
"Independence" is based on Norwood's own experience one summer from college in which she spent 12 days in Cozad operating a fireworks stand while a student at Hastings College. D-V-D's of the movie will also be available for sale at each event. They are also available from the movie's web site independencethemovie.com .
