Report examines Neb. impact if health reform fails
WASHINGTON (AP) _ A new report projects that if federal policymakers don't enact health care reforms, health care costs and the number of uninsured people in Nebraska would surge over the next decade. Within 10 years, as many as 293,000 Nebraskans could be uninsured, up from 220,000 this year. That's according to a report released Wednesday from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supports health care reform. The report says health care spending could rise as much as 60 percent over the decade for the average Nebraskan. Nebraska government's spending on Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program also could double under a worse-case scenario. The report says middle-class working families would be hardest hit. ___ On the Net: Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: http://www.rwjf.org/
