Aquila to upgrade gas meters in 25 communities
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Aquila announced it is upgrading gas meters for 13,000 customers in rural Nebraska. The natural gas provider says the new meters will allow for automated readings, which should increase accuracy. Customers in Lincoln have had similar meters since the 1980s. The cost of the upgrades is estimated to be 1.8 million dollars. Work has already begun in Adams, Hallam and Cortland, with gas meters in 22 other communities to be upgraded to the new system later this year. Customers will be notified by mail before work is done. Aquila provides natural gas to 197,000 customers in Nebraska.
