LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ An assistant athletic director for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been named executive director of the school's alumni association. Diane Mendenhall will take over the 25,000-member organization on Sept. 22, filling the vacancy left by Ed Paquette. Paquette took a leave of absence in late 2007, but never came back. His financial transactions as head of the alumni association are under investigation by the Nebraska attorney general. Paquette has denied any wrongdoing. University officials have said an audit turned up transactions without proper documentation, among other questionable practices. The audit sparked a restructuring of the alumni association earlier this year. Mendenhall has worked the past eight years as assistant athletic director for development and ticketing for the NU Athletic Department. ___ On the Net: Nebraska Alumni Association: http://www.huskeralum.com
