Neb. county solves safety issue on holiday lights
BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) _ A question about safety when putting up holiday lights on the courthouse in Beatrice has been resolved in Gage County. Supervisors have decided that contractors working on county-owned property must comply with federal safety regulations. The resolution passed Wednesday was a response to an incident that delayed installation of the lights. A man putting up the lights was ordered off the roof last week when a representative of the company overseeing a courthouse renovation noticed that the man wasn't wearing a proper safety harness. J.T. Thornburg, organizer of the courthouse lighting project, told supervisors that he would ensure that the workman gets proper oversight and follows appropriate safety procedures.
