Identity of victim in Dalton snowmobile accident released

The Cheyenne County Sheriff's office has identified the young girl who died in a snowmobile accident in Dalton Saturday as eight year old Megan Sculley.

Sheriff Darrel Johnson says Sculley and another juvenile were passengers on the snowmobile driven by Sculley's father, 44 year old Tony Shepard. Johnson says Shepard lost control of the vehicle when it hit a curb on the east side of Euclid Street The snowmobile struck a tree, causing all the occupants to be ejected.

Shepard and Sculley, both residents of Dalton, were transported to Memorial Health Center in Sidney. Sculley was pronounced dead at the hospital. Shepard was transported to Regional West Medical Center, where he is listed in serious condition. The other juvenile, Taylor Bemer, was not injured.

The accident occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m.
