Survey shows Nebraska economy on the rise
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ A survey of business leaders and supply managers in Nebraska indicates the state's economy continues to improve. Nebraska's overall index rose to 44.3 in May from April's 39.8. The survey's index ranges from 0 to 100. Any score below 50 suggests a contracting economy over the next three to six months. While Nebraska's May index number remained below growth neutral for the ninth consecutive month, the rising numbers show promise. Survey overseer and Creighton University economics professor Ernie Goss says Nebraska had been on pace to lose almost 5 percent of its jobs this year. Now, he says, the pace of job losses is likely to slow significantly in the months ahead.
