New Neb. Guard-Reserve center consolidates bases
HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) _ The governor and the commander of the Nebraska's National Guard will join a dedication ceremony for the new consolidated Hastings center for Guard and Reserve units. Lt. Col. Bob Vrana (ver-AH-nuh) says the $11.5 million Armed Forces Reserve Center will be officially opened Friday at the Francis Greenlief Training Site near Hastings. It will be home to four Army National Guard units and one U.S. Army Reserve company. Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman and Nebraska's adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Tim Kadavy (KAD-uh-vee) will attend the event. The 62,000-square-foot facility replaces two Guard armories and a Reserve facility. The closings are part of 2005's Base Realignment and Closure commission recommendations from the Pentagon. ___ On the Net: Nebraska National Guard: http://www.neguard.com/
