Dawson county has secured a federal grant of $106,300 for energy conservation. Emergency Management Director Brian Woldt says he applied for an energy efficiency community block grant in August. Woldt says the federal stimulus funds will be used to provide two new boilers and a water heater for the courthouse and to replace fluorescent lights that were not part of the courthouse renovation. The grant funds will be used in several other ways around the county.
The Dawson County Weed District will receive a new hot water heater along with new heating and air conditioning equipment and weather stripping around the garage doors. Cozad will receive several new insulated garage doors, Gothenburg will replace 5 windows and a heat pump at the city office and Lexington will replace 5 rooftop units at the city office.
