Ex-Neb treasurer gets 3 years' probation
Adams county
HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) _ A former Adams County treasurer has been ordered to serve three years' probation for evasion of sales tax on an SUV. Julia Moeller was sentenced Friday in Clay County Court on charges of tax evasion and official misconduct. She had faced up to 5 1/2 years in prison. The Nebraska State Patrol found that Moeller illegally registered a motor home outside the state and had her daughter _ who worked in her office at the time _ help falsify records to evade paying $4,000 in Nebraska sales tax. Moeller resigned as treasurer in January. Her daughter, Michelan Parr of Hastings, pleaded no contest to charges of official misconduct and abuse of public records. She was sentenced to a year of probation.
