ATLANTA, Neb. (AP) _ A tiny town in south-central Nebraska is fighting to keep its post office. For the third time in the last decade, the village of Atlanta, in Phelps county, faces the threat of losing its post office. The town recently held a soup supper to rally residents to write letters and sign a petition to government officials demanding that the post office stay. Residents say they're not only fighting for their mail, but for their community. Atlanta board members say the U.S. Postal Service can only close an office for lack of staffing or facility destruction. Officials say the Atlanta office has a willing staff and a fully functioning building. ___
