90 year old Helen L. Taylor of Kearney, NE formerly Beaver City, NE

Helen L. Taylor, age 90 of Kearney formerly Beaver City, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at St. John's Center in Kearney. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m., Saturday, February 20th, at The First Christian Center in Beaver City, with pastor John Sievering officiating. Burial will follow at Precept Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-8:00p.m., Thursday and Friday, at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City. Visitation will continue Saturday, prior to services, at the church. Helen was born August 13, 1919, at Precept, NE, to William David and Rachel (Marble) Perkins. Her Mother died early in her life; she was raised by her Dad, Granddad and an Aunt. She attended District 9 County School in Furnas County. She graduated from Beaver City High School with the class of 1937. She attended Hastings Teachers College at Hastings, NE for two years. She taught County School for several years. She married Cecil Taylor on December 20, 1941 at Hill City, KS. They farmed in Furnas County and the Precept area until retirement in 1998, when they moved to Kearney, NE. Cecil passed away May 13, 2006. She accepted the Lord as her savior at a young age. She belonged to Precept Community Church until the church closed. She then transferred to Evangelical Free Church in Stamford, NE. Her family was very important to her, as well as gardening, reading and flowers. Survivors include her sons, Elvin (Joyce) Taylor of Syracuse, Richard (Connie) Taylor of Stamford; daughters, Joyce (Clair) Holmes of Hershey, Dorothy (Gene) Beck of Knoxville, TN, Arlene (Jim) Cross of North Platte, Leta (Dennis) Grothen of Hastings; 15 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil, sister Marie Davis, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
