NGFA Wants CRP Opened by New Administration
Having failed with the Bush administration, The National Grain and Feed Association will ask the Obama administration to adopt an early-out policy – that makes some sense. NGFA vice president of communications and government affairs Randy Gordon told Agri-Pulse, - we are not arguing that every acre in the CRP ought to be plowed up…but there certainly are some good productive acres that could be restored to production and farmed in a very environmentally sustainable way. Gordon expects the dramatic increase in retail food prices will persuade the incoming President to consider their request – with a more open mind. Presently more than 33 million acres are enrolled in CRP- the nation’s largest private-lands conservation program.
