UL CertifiesE25 Pumps
We could soon see more Dresser Wayne Ovation Eco Fuel dispensers at pumping stations across the nation. The company says Underwriters Laboratory has certified the pumping system for use with ethanol blends up to E25. The new approval by UL comes as the market prepares for possible changes in U.S. federal energy policy that would shift the standard gasoline blend from the current E10 to higher levels of ethanol.

According to Robert White, Director of Market Development for the Renewable Fuels Association, - UL’s certification is an important step forward and will help expand the use of ethanol. With EPA expected to approve 15 percent ethanol blends sometime this year, this announcement provides some comfort to gas station owners facing increased ethanol blending.

While this is a helpful step, White says, - certification of a dispenser for up to 85 percent ethanol is critical to expanding both the infrastructure for and the use of high level ethanol blends. Currently, the RFA is working in conjunction with the American Coalition for Ethanol and numerous state corn grower associations on the Blend Your Own Ethanol campaign with the goal of installing 5-thousand blender pumps in the next three years.
