Kansas beef producers honored
The Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) recognized the Kniebel family of White City as “Commercial Producer of the Year” during the group’s annual convention last week in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. KLA nominated the Kniebels for the award. The Kneibels competed against 11 other nominees from across the country.

Kniebel Farms & Cattle Company is owned and operated by Kevin and Mary Ann, Chuck and Kim and Charles and Mona Kniebel. The family business includes a commercial cow-calf herd, a feedyard and a diversified farming business. Although the operation is multifaceted, it revolves around a cowherd bred to produce beef in demand with consumers. Using the natural resources abundant on their Flint Hills ranch, coupled with years of selective breeding, the Kniebels have developed an efficient, high-producing cowherd that yields offspring targeted for high-quality, premium beef markets.

The mission of BIF is to improve the beef industry through performance evaluation. Each year, KLA nominates producers for national awards presented by the organization. KLA’s nominee for BIF Seedstock Producer of the Year was Harms Plainview Ranch, owned and operated by Mark and Kim Harms of Lincolnville.
