NFU Issues Statement on RFS Rule
National Farmers Union has joined the chorus of others who find problems with the application of indirect land use to the Renewable Fuel Standard, released last week by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. NFU President Roger Johnson says - it is unfortunate that farmers trying to be part of a domestic energy solution will be penalized for land use changes in other countries on which we can only offer estimates.

Johnson points out - EPA continues to reassess lifecycle estimates, including indirect land-use, and acknowledges that scientific knowledge continues to evolve in this area. Still, Johnson sees the rule - will continue our path towards greater energy independence while creating economic opportunities in rural America.
