LINCOLN, Neb. -- "Future Defined in 2009" is the theme for the annual celebration of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources April 17-25.

Students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members all can join in the celebration, said Kalli Estes, a junior agribusiness major from Anselmo and the chair of publicity for the CASNR Week Program Council.

"CASNR Week is a fun week full of events, brought to you by the students, faculty and staff for the students, faculty and staff of CASNR to celebrate yet another great, successful year at the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources," Estes said.

CASNR Week will kick off April 17 with the 7:30 p.m. annual UNL Rodeo at the Lancaster Event Center. A dance will follow with Jim Rice and the Final Round. Additional rodeo performances will be April 18 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The CASNR Week Banquet will be April 19. This banquet is for all CASNR faculty, staff and students. It will feature motivational speaker Jim Welsch of The Growth Leader of Kansas City.

Other highlights include:

-- Lunch on the Lawn from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on April 21. This event typically draws around 500 to 600 people, Estes said.

-- April 21 is a night for Hartley, Huntington and Clinton Elementary Schools, Ruth Staples Child Development Lab parents and children to enjoy a free Community Night with CASNR faculty, staff and students.

-- From 5-7 p.m. April 22, a Career Opportunities in Science, hosted by the Biochemistry Club, NU Meds, American Medical Student Association, Pre-health Club, Optometry Club, will allow networking and information opportunities that students can pursue after their current program of study -- graduate or undergraduate. This will be at Hardin Hall.

-- This year's blood drive will have a competition. CASNR clubs will compete for a pizza party put on by CASNR and Campus Recreation, and CASNR departments will compete for ice cream sundaes from the CASNR Week Program Council.

-- The Burr Hall Bull Fry on April 25 will benefit Sean and Kelli Houlihan. Sean is a member of facilities at Burr Hall, and his wife is suffering from cancer.

All events are free and at the Nebraska East Union, unless otherwise noted. A full schedule of events follows:

April 17 -- 7:30 p.m., UNL Rodeo, Lancaster Event Center, tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students with UNL identification and $5 for children ages 6-12, children under 5 are free.

April 18 -- 1:30 and 7:30, UNL Rodeo, Lancaster Event Center, tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students with UNL identification and $5 for children ages 6-12, children under 5 are free.

April 19 -- 5 p.m. Student Involvement Reception, CASNR Week International Studies Reception; 6 p.m. CASNR Week Recognition Banquet

April 20 -- Noon, Club Adviser Luncheon

April 21 -- 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch on the Lawn; 5-7 p.m. Community Night

April 22 -- Noon, Undergraduate TA Luncheon; 5-7 p.m. Career Opportunities in Science, Hardin Hall

April 23 -- 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Community Blood Bank of Lancaster County Blood Drive; 5-8 p.m. Alpha Gamma Rho Barbeque, Alpha Gamma Rho parking lot, tickets are $5 and can be bought from any member or at the door, proceeds go to Farmer's Crisis and Rural Response Hotline

April 24 -- 6:30 p.m., Block and Bridle Banquet

April 25 -- 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Burr Hall Bull Fry, Burr Hall
